Passing of Dr. Dorothy Height

Dorothy-Height.jpg

Dr. Height was an extraordinary icon in civil rights and women's rights. Her presence will be deeply missed.  Dr. Height was a leader of leaders. In all the years I have known her she never missed an opportunity to lift up and support the work of those who are working for justice. In 1997, I was the key note speaker at the National Council of Negro Women's conference in Chantilly, Virginia .

The NCNW adopted a resolution to support the black farmers. Dr. Height’s support helped secure a key meeting with former President Bill Clinton for the black farmers. It’s this kind of leadership that made Dr. Dorothy Height so special. The world has truly lost an irreplaceable leader.
